MD Biomedics constantly adds new manufacturing and/or supply companies to its service chain, companies who recognize that service is as important to the success of a product as the marketing effort. Companies like Midwest Medical Consultants, 3cor, Skytron, OSI and Moeller Wedel recognize the importance of total customer satisfaction and provide us with the tools and resources to achieve this goal. Some companies may not be as willing provide support outside of their own service department. Some manufactures limit service avenues because:

  1. Risk of product liability is high or complexity warrants a specialized service staff. Examples include complex nuclear medicine systems, large scale imaging equipment or software driven systems. These companies still offer parts to their customers but limit who provides service.
  2. The service department is viewed as a profit center and is unwilling to place customer service in front of profits. These companies fail to provide support, or parts outside of their own service department, with the claim that the equipment is too complex for anyone else, including the customer, to support. Unlike the manufacturers in category 1 above, these companies fail to provide technical documentation, preventing the customer from understanding the very equipment they purchased.
